Hornchurch Hydrogen Refuelling Facility

GB Forecourts are proud to have been asked by BP Gas Power and Renewables to become involved at the design stage and take the lead role as principal contractor, building the countrys first hydrogen fuelling station, with a below ground hydrogen cell.

The project required a large 6m deep below ground reinforced concrete vault, to receive the hydrogen tank, before a pre-cast concrete roof was put over it and the super structure erected.
The M & E installation was completed by BOC under GB supervision, and now provides a facitity where a number of hydrogen powered London Buses refuel using a dispenser that looks like a conventional BP fuel pump.

The programme commenced with the trapping and relocation of protected Great Crested Newts, and was followed by an intense contruction period in order to reach the timescales required by BP.
